Field of Dreams

May 7, 2009 by larrywilson

gaillardia_blog_290.jpgThe recent Spring rains caused this field to erupt in a blaze of maroon and gold.  These native wildflowers are called Gaillardia and are also known as Indian Blanket.  In recent weeks I  had travelled all over the Austin and surrounding area trying to find a wildflower bloom such as this.  I happened to venture out into the weed field behind our house recently and there they were!  It is true that you don’t have to travel far from home to find real happiness….

Dear Larry: Just noticed your great new shot of a gaillardia field on your homepage. We have been selling wildflower seeds for over 25 years, and I’d love to use that photo, with your permission. Is that possible? Our site has traffic of up to 10,000 per day in spring, and I’d be happy to include a photo credit.

    Thanks in advance,

Hi, Ray. I would be proud for you to show the image on your site. I will e-mail you later today with a larger version of the shot. Larry
